BaroqueAros is a professional baroque-ensemble, founded in 2009. It plays baroque music on original period instruments e.g. on gutstrings and with a low tuning in 415 Hz

BaroqueAros was well received by both audience and press from the very beginning. After the first concert in august the newspaper “Aarhus Stiftstidende” wrote: “Refreshing! BaroqueAros looks to be at promising element in the music life in Aarhus”.

BaroqueAros normally consists of 7 musicians, but on a regular basis - whenever needed - the ensemble is extended with guest musicians. The basic instrumentation is violin, viola, cello, doublebass, oboe/bassoon and cembalo.

BaroqueAros often invites international capacities within the baroque genre to inspire and lead the ensemble. There have so far been masterclasses with e.g. Peter Spissky, violin; Alfredo Bernardini, oboe and the countertenor Daniel Carlsson. Also Cellist Hidemi Suzuki, harpsicordplayer Lars Ulrik Mortensen and bassoonist Peter Whelan have been invited to Aarhus.

BaroqueAros plays its concerts in Aarhus in the symphonic hall of Musikhuset and in the Aarhus Dome, but also in many other parts of Denmark, the music societies and churches have enjoyed the dedicated, sensitive and sparkling performances that characterize the concerts of the ensemble.

BaroqueAros has received financial support from several foundations e.g. Augustinus Fonden, Oticon Fonden, Den Bøhmske Fond; Nordea Fonden and as the latest Aarhus Stiftstidendes Fond. Furthermore in 2015 BaroqueAros recieved a three-year schollarship from Aage og Johanne Louis-Hansens Fond.
